Sleep disorders are a medical disorder involving sleep patterns. Some sleep disorders may interfere with normal physical, mental, and emotional functioning, and can be caused by external factors, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or a life transition.

Sleep Disorders Causes:
Sleep disorders are very common and can result from a number of causes. Stress, illness, diet (e.g., caffeine, alcohol) and medications (e.g., antidepressants) all can cause sleep problems.
Sleep Disorder Symptoms:
- Emotional outbursts
- A feeling that you need to nap everyday
- Need caffeinated beverages to make it through the day
- Difficulty falling asleep at night or getting back to sleep after waking during the night
- Waking up frequently during the night
- Your sleep feels light, fragmented, or exhausting
- You need to take something (sleeping pills, nightcap, supplements) in order to get to sleep
- Sleepiness and low energy during the day
Sleep Disorder Remedies:
- Try to keep your sleep schedule consistent. Plan regular hours of sleep time every day.
- Eliminate caffeine and alcohol, particularly at night.
- Don't exercise or start involving yourself in highly engaging mental tasks near bedtime.
- Don't go to bed hungry or after eating a large meal. Eat a light snack before bedtime or drink a glass of warm milk, which contains an amino acid that is a known sleep inducer.
- If married, make love to your partner. Its relaxing and helps you in getting a good quality sleep.
- Lettuce juice is a valuable home remedy for sleeping troubles as it induces healthy sleep.
- Massage feet, calves, nape of the neck and shoulders.
- Having hot baths two hours prior to bedtime help to soothe the mind and body and regulate sleeping patterns.
- Do meditation for helping you deal with day-to-day stresses and worries. Stress is the worst enemy of sleep.
- Combing hair before retiring is also a good practice for good night’s sleep.
- A combination of buttermilk, cinnamon and honey is useful home remedy used to get rid of sleeping ailments.
